GAEL Literacy Leadership Institute 3
*Observation to Action: Empowering Literacy in Schools
In-Person ONLY
**LIMITED NUMBER OF SEATS**
This institute is designed for those who have attended Literacy Leadership
Institutes 1 and 2 in the past and desire to practice applying coaching
and feedback skills learned in a risk-free environment with Sherry’s support by
observing, debriefing, reflecting, and providing meaningful feedback. Participants
will meet 4 days (1 day of "review training" and 3 days of observing in
schools/classrooms across the state of GA).
1st Session - Sept. 19 & 20 (2 back-to-back days) (Richmond County)
- Day 1 - Sherry will provide refresher training regarding what to look for when observing literacy instruction in classrooms, how to provide honest and respectful feedback, how to coach teachers to improve their practice, monitor progress and sustain efforts.
- Day 2 - Observe in Schools, Debrief, Reflect, Provide Feedback
2nd Session - January 18 (Butts County)
- Day 3 - Observe in Schools, Debrief, Reflect, Provide Feedback
3rd Session - February (Houston County)
- Day 4 - Observe in Schools, Debrief, Reflect, Provide Feedback
* Days 2, 3, and 4 will involve participants utilizing tools created by Sherry to conduct learning walks in classrooms in GA public schools at various levels (ES, MS, HS). Debriefing will occur collaboratively to synthesize learning.

What is the cost of the training?
The $1500.00 registration fee covers all sessions, materials, and includes a complimentary 2023-2024 GAEL Membership & Affiliate Membership of your choice.
Institute 3 Facilitated by Sherry St Clair
Sherry St. Clair, president of Reflective Learning LLC, is the author of Coaching Redefined: A Guide to Leading Meaningful Instructional Growth. She coaches instructional leaders globally, with the aim of helping administrators, coaches, and teachers create the optimal learning environment for students. Due to commitments to our facilities/partners and the limit of in-person registrations, all cancellations up to September 5, 2023 are subject to a cancellation fee of $100.00. (cancellation fee will be waived if you choose to retain your 2023-2024 GAEL and Affiliate Membership) Cancellations after September 5, 2023 will be charged the full registration fee. No-shows at the event will be charged the full registration fee. All cancellations must be in writing. Please email gsmith@gael.org to cancel.
