Ample lodging will be available for attendees. The rooms at the regular reduced GACIS Conference rates are being held by the Athens Convention and Visitors Bureau that will be handling reservations.

Registration Fees & Membership:

 Non-Member Cost: $400.00  includes 2021-2022 GACIS membership.

Member Cost: $325.00

(Annual membership is July 1 to June 30. Note: Registration is for the 2-day conference. 1-day registration is NOT an option.)

Professor Doug Fisher

Douglas Fisher is  Professor of Educational Leadership in the Department of Teacher Education at San Diego State University and a teacher leader at Health Sciences High & Middle College. His focus is on improving students' learning and impacting professional learning communities. Doug Fisher has been the lead author on numerous books including The Distance Learning Playbook, the Teacher Clarity Playbook, Becoming an Assessment Capable Visible Learner, Visible Learning for Literacy, Teaching Literacy in the Visible Learning Classroom, and many others. Recently, Fisher and his colleagues released, Rebound: Rebuilding Agency, Accelerating Learning Recovery, and Rethinking Schools and Leading the Rebound:20+ Must Dos to Restart Teaching the Learning to address the collective traumas experienced during the pandemic and rebuild a sense of agency and self so teachers and students can link student success to their efforts. Dr. John Almarode

Dr. John Almarode, a bestselling author, has worked with schools, classrooms, and teachers all over the world. He has presented locally, nationally, and internationally on the application of the science of learning to the classroom, school, and home environments. Recently, John, Douglas Fisher, Nancy Frey and other have developed a new framework for developing, implementing, and sustaining professional learning communities: PLC+, a framework to build capacity within teacher-led teams to maximize student learning. Up next, John and his colleagues are focusing on the process of implementation - taking evidence-based practices and moving them from intention to implementation - through a series of on-your-feet-guides around PLCs, Visible Learning, Visible Teaching, and the SOLO Taxonomy. Cancellation Policy

Due to commitments to our facilities/partners and the limit of in-person registrations, all cancellations up to September 14 are subject to a cancellation fee of $100.00.  (cancellation fee will be waived if you choose to retain your 2021-2022 GACIS Membership) Cancellations after September 14 will be charged the full registration fee. No-shows at the conference will be charged the full registration fee. All cancellations must be in writing. Please email dwhite@gael.org to cancel.

A contingency cancellation policy will go into effect if we are unable to host the 2021 Fall GACIS Conference safely, according to CDC guidelines, government mandates, or similar reasons. NO CANCELLATION PENALTY will be assessed. A credit for the conference portion will be applied, and you will retain membership in GACIS. If you desire a refund, GACIS will refund the conference portion of the registration.
