2015 Fall Curriculum Directors’ Conference - September 23
“Design Thinking/Multi Modal Literacy”
Keynote speakers on September 23rd include Richard Woods, Georgia’s School Superintendent and nationally recognized professional learning presenters in the areas of literacy, science, and social studies. Dr. P. David Pearson, Language and Literacy and Human Development Professor in the Graduate School of Education from the University of California at Berkeley and chair of the International Reading Association Literacy Research Panel, will provide professional learning for using reading, writing, and language to foster the development of knowledge and inquiry in science. Bruce Lesh, Education Program Supervisor, Coordinator Office of K-12 Social Studies at the Maryland State Department of Education, past president of Maryland Council for the Social Studies and former Teacher of American history/AP U.S. politics and government will provide strategies for teaching history using primary sources and strategies for teaching students how to ask questions of evidence and develop historical explanations.
