GAEL L4GA Leadership Institute

Designed to help instructional leaders guide meaningful literacy development in their
schools. Leaders will learn how to guide literacy initiatives in schools and collaborate
with community stakeholders to strengthen instruction. Participants will leave with
practical tools and strategies, grounded in research, to drive improvement in

classroom instruction and community collaboration.

The fee includes a 2020-2021 GAEL membership, a 2020-2021 affiliate membership of your choice.

Registration fees are $2100.00 for the entire program, but we will wait until after you receive your grant funds if you would like us to invoice you later. Also, if you would like to go ahead and reserve your seat now but change placement person to the conference and we will print a new name badge there. names of participants later, we will work with you.  Simply send the replacement attendee to the conference and we will change the name badge at registration.

      • How to Leverage Literacy Assessment Data
      • Recognizing and Supporting an Engaged Literacy Classroom
      • Cultivating Family and Community Partnerships to Support Literacy Initiatives


Day 2-3: September 16-17, 2020
Location: Anderson Center, Macon, GA

Topics Include:

      • Recognizing and Supporting Effective Reading Instruction through whole class reading instruction, independent reading, small-group reading instruction,collaborative reading and vocabulary instruction
      • Utilizing a literacy walk-through checklist
      • Supporting social emotional learning through literacy


Day 4-5: February 9-10, 2021
Location: Anderson Center, Macon, GA

Topics Include:

      • Recognizing and Supporting Effective Writing Instruction through whole class writing instruction, independent writing, small-group writing instruction, collaborative reaching and vocabulary instruction.
      • Strengthening the use of relevant literacy tools
      • Maintaining Family and Community Partnerships to Support Literacy Initiatives


Workshops presented by Sherry St Clair

Sherry St. Clair, president of Reflective Learning LLC, is the author of Coaching Redefined: A Guide to Leading Meaningful Instructional Growth. She coaches instructional leaders globally, with the aim of helping administrators, coaches, and teachers create the optimal learning environment for students. There is NO cancellation fee for systems who fail to receive grant funds in the June State Board Meeting. We will cancel your registration with no penalty and no questions asked through June 30, 2020. 

After June 30, 2020, a cancellation fee of $75.00 will be charged up to August 15  for all cancellations.  After August 15, the full fee will be charged.  No-shows will be charged the full fee.  Cancellations MUST be in writing. Please email gsmith@gael.org to cancel.
