Students with Disabilities: What Building Administrators Need to Know!
A one-day overview of essential information for those who deal with students with disabilities at the school level - administrators, counselors, coordinators and department heads. What you need to know about students with disabilities. Topics include:
- Students with Disabilities: Who are they? – The law, eligibility, IEP, FAPE, accommodations, placement, LRE
- Staffing – Inclusion, co-teaching, co-planning, paraprofessionals, small groups, CCRPI, TKES, observations, evaluations
- Instruction and Accountability – Specialized instruction, use of data, differentiated instruction in general ed classrooms, progress toward goals, grading, professional development
- Discipline – Behaviors, behavior management, data, short term removals
- Communication – With parents and staff, attendance at meetings, email communication cautions.
